Objectif(s): To evaluate how Ets’ula (dene love song) can contribute to the Sahtu’ot’ine Language revitalization.
Description du projet: This project will include a booklet, including a music sheet, of the late Eliza Blondin’s story and her song. The materials will be digitized and saved to a USB. This project is part of a Master degree in Indigenous language Revitalization The Principal Investigator (PI) will interview the two (or more) participants individually using the questions in the attachment. Some of the questions are quite open-ended and so discussion might follow. As the interviews are being done, the videographer will video record the sessions (with audio). The PI also plans to take some still photos. The PI will be listening to the recordings of ets’ulah by Eliza Blondin and checking and possibly editing the transcriptions and translations of the recordings to make sure that they are accurate. The PI will incorporate ideas from the songs into this project. Part of these results will be a booklet for public distribution and the PI will continue to inform the community about progress and results. This project will be available on University of Victoria website. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from September 26, 2014 to December 31, 2014.
