Description du projet: Objectives of the surveys will be to document locations of snowmobile travel routes, record snow depth, ice thickness, presence of overflow, and presence of hanging ice and thickness of air pocket if present. The Deze Energy Corporation is planning to construct the Taltson Expansion Project, which would supply diamond mines with hydroelectricity from the Twin Gorges facility on the Taltson River. The transmission line will pass Nonacho Lake, and a temporary winter road and construction camp are planned for Nonacho Lake. The northwest arm of Nonacho Lake will be accessed by airplane on skis. A low level reconnaissance flight will identify lake survey locations based on historic, current, and potential future travel routes. Snowmobile tracks and wildlife sign will be recorded on a map and with a GPS unit. If possible, up to four sites per survey will be selected where holes will be drilled with an ice auger. The snow depth, ice thickness and characteristics would be recorded, as well as the presence of overflow and ice pockets. The Deze Energy Corporation will be hosting meetings in Lutsel K'e to discuss the Taltson Expansion Project. Pete Enzo of Lutsel Ke will be conducting all the field studies. Fieldwork will be conducted from April 23 to May 31, 2008 at Nonacho Lake (Lat. 62.00 Long.109.40). Lutsel K'e is approximately 80 km to the northwest.
