Objectif(s): There are three primary objectives of the Permanent Sample Plots (PSPs); 1) growth and yield information to assess the rate of forest growth and determine current and potential yield of various forest types; 2) NWT cumulative impact monitoring for the Western NWT Biophysical Study; and 3) contribute NWT information to the National Forest Inventory, the aim of which is to assess and monitor the extent, state and sustainable development of Canada's forests. In 2002, approximately 20 PSPs are planned for the Sahtu region.
