Objectif(s): This review was initiated by Aurora College as part of explorations with the Department of Education, Culture and Employment related to providing opportunities for northerners to complete the Bachelor of Education degree in the NWT. The project purpose was to gather information on the teacher education program in the NWT and assess programs related to teacher education access, the three year diploma, and fourth year programming. Through extensive consultation with stakeholders, students, alumni, and college personnel, and a thorough document analysis, the aim was to assess: 1) the relevancy, suitability, and effectiveness of current teacher education programming, 2) the feasibility of delivering the 4th year of the B.Ed in the NWT, 3) the required library and other non-space capital resources needed for expansion, 4) the options and models for delivery of the 4th year of the B.Ed., 5) the needs for organizational change to facilitate the delivery of the program, and 6) financial resources required for each delivery option/model.
