Objectif(s): As a follow-up to an Aboriginal educational survey in Denendeh, done by the researcher during 1989 - 1991, the researcher plans to do a short consultative survey with members of the GNWT Department of Education, Culture and Employment and possibly of the Aurora College staff in Yellowknife. Areas of interest include, Dene curriculum, bilingual education, teacher's training programs for the Dene, and college education for the Dene. These findings will be compared to recent observations gathered by the researcher during a 1994 visit to Aboriginal educational programs in Australia's Northern Territory.
Description du projet: Due to limited time resources, the researcher plans to limit his study to doing consultative interviews with staff members of the GNWT Department of Education, Culture and Employment and possibly with staff members of Aurora College in Yellowknife. No research will be done outside of Yellowknife. This survey is part of a larger international 3 year research project sponsored by Japan's National Museum of Ethnology entitled "Indigenous Peoples in Urban Communities of the World that started in 1995.
