Objectif(s): To identify the political goals of the Inuvialuit and Gwich'in and determine the methods used to accomplish these goals; to determine what `cultural survival', `protection of the land' and `self-government' mean to the Inuvialuit and Gwich'in, and whether these issues can be realized within the Canadian state; to assess employment and welfare issues as they relate to the use of Arctic resources.

Description du projet: The researchers are collecting information as part of their international studies course in teacher training. They wish to examine issues concerning ethnic identity and politics. Through interviews with the Inuvialuit and Gwich'in, the researchers will collect information on the political goals of the Inuvialuit and Gwich'in and methods used by these groups to accomplish their goals.
