Objectif(s): To sample specimens from Resolute Passage and conduct oxygen consumption trials in the lab at Resolute; to conduct underwater surveys along transects in the area of Resolute Bay and Allan Bay to look at abundance and feeding status of the soft coral, Gersemia rubiformis; to determine the nitrogen production of the soft corals;
Description du projet: The researcher and his team will use several species of planktonic and benthic invertebrates from Lancaster Sound region to evaluate the metabolic cost of making a living in the Arctic. Oxygen consumption techniques will be used as a metabolic indicy. Trophic status of specimens will be evaluated later by stable isotope analysis.
