Objectif(s): To obtain a better understanding of the influence of the Slave River on the western basin of Great Slave Lake; to characterize the concentration of selected organic contaminants in the surficial and deeper sediments at selected locations; to continue to refine sampling methodology for winter limnological studies; to develop the framework for a research/monitoring investigation of Great Slave Lake;
Description du projet: The Researchers will collect a series of sediment and water samples. These will be analyzed for plant nutrients, concentration of microscopic plant cells, bacteria, suspended solids, dissolved oxygen and organic contaminants. Microscopic animals will also be netted. They will determine the abundance and composition of the animals and conduct experiments to measure their feeding rates and fat content.
