Objectif(s): To determine which species of vascular plants reach the extreme conditions of polar deserts and which are the adoptive features which enable these plants to survive in such conditions; to identify chemical compounds in Arctic Willows which may function as protective substances against herbivory (muskoxen and arctic hare);
Description du projet: The Researcher will continue an ongoing program in Sverdrup Pass: Ecology of polar oases. The study will assist in understanding the origin, development, maintenance and future of these isolated ecosystems in the midst of a polar desert.
