Objectif(s): To survey the distribution of permafrost along the coast of the Beaufort Sea and determine the factors that cause its growth or disappearance.

Description du projet: The Researcher will follow detailed studies by the GSC on permafrost distribution along retreating coasts at the north end of Richards Island, and adjacent areas of sediment accumulation to find out how quickly permafrost was re-established. This study will extend further westward to determine the adjustment of permafrost to the rapid sedimentation occurring there.
