Objective(s): To understand the importance of sedimentary processes in controlling the growth and disappearance of permafrost along the coast of the Beaufort Sea from Richards Island to Middle Channel of Mackenzie River.

Project Description: The coast of the Beaufort Sea is presently undergoing many changes, either due to coastal erosion or sediment deposition. The Researcher and team will measure temperature due to these processes. Using known rates at which these processes take place it will be possible to predict further changes in temperature and distribution of permafrost.
