Objectif(s): To determine the present sedimentary processes in Expedition Fiord; to study the relation between the sediments and the small animals (shells, marine worms, etc.) that live there and the relations among these animals; to relate the sediment sources of the land around (glaciers, rivers, slopes, etc.) to the sediments of the fiord; to study how these conditions have changes since the Ice Ages with a view to assessing into the future the change that is being caused by human activity elsewhere.
Description du projet: The researcher and his team will: measure the water flowing into the fiord and the water in the fiord; examine the sediments using an echo sounder that shows that water depths and the layers of sediment down to bedrock; photograph the sea floor; collect samples of the sea floor. Small animals (shells, worms etc) will be preserved for later study. Sediment samples will be studied in detail.
