Objective(s): The National Energy Board (NEB) requested that a site-specific monitoring program be developed for the Liard pipeline and presented as part of the Environmental Protection Program. The monitoring program was designed in consultation with Fort Liard-based Nahendeh Land and Environmental Services LP to comply with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. Paramount is committed to monitoring the pipeline right-of-way on an annual basis until 2004. The purpose of the monitoring is to assess reclamation success and identify areas of concern regarding revegetation and soil loss by erosion. As part of the regulatory submissions made to the NEB, a water quality program was designed and approved by the NEB for implementation. The water quality program was designed to monitor water quality in the study area since pipeline construction and operation activities have the potential to affect water quality.
