Objective(s): to determine whether adult males with no recent or significant correctional experience who have been remanded in custody report greater psychological discomfort than sentenced adult male offenders with no recent or significant prior correctional history (pyschological discomfort is defined as relatively high degree of anxiety, depression and/or hopelessness)

Project Description: Mr. Downe will be comparing interviews of 40 sentenced male offenders to 40 adult men who are placed temporarily (remanded) in a correctional centre while the court is making a decision about their case. He wants to be able to advise the courts whether remanded inmates suffer more emotional stress than those who are finished with the court process and sentenced.
