Objective(s): to begin to investigate Inuit spatial concepts by studying their contemporary travel habits, land/sea resource use, place names, and, mental maps; and, to interview people to determine how to gather this information

Project Description: Dr. Rundstrom will be talking to people in Rankin Inlet and Eskimo Point. He wants to gather information on how Inuit travel on the land or across water without using compasses, maps, or other modern navigational equipment. He will be asking what is the best way to gather this information and he may ask a few questions such as: what are the Inuktitut words for certain places? How do people travel in the Keewatin?
