Objective(s): To complete a lake coring and glacial mapping program in the region of NWT Baffin Island and the settlement of Arctic Bay. Radiocarbon dates obtained on an organic section located near the settlement of Arctic Bay have provided the first evidence for terrestrial materials older than 11,000 and younger than 40,000 year BP from the eastern Canadian Arctic; it is important to place the site within a firmly dated local glacial chronological context.
