Project Description: This licence has been issued for the scientific research application No. 6135. To support environmental review of the Project, and namely, the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), research is required for the People and Communities section. Reporting on baseline conditions and Project related effects on People and Communities requires both secondary research and supplemental primary research; the research objective is to gather information to support a robust baseline and effects assessment. Nunami Stantec will identify businesses and organizations in Yellowknife to gather input on baseline conditions and potential effects of the Project on Employment and Economy, Non-Traditional Land and Resource Use, Infrastructure and Services, and Community Health and Well-being. Businesses and organizations in Yellowknife will be identified and contacted by email or telephone for participation in the research. Nunami Stantec is proposing to primarily conduct semi-structured interviews virtually (e.g., by Teams or by phone). There is currently no intention of conducting interviews or focus groups in-person; although, these methods may be used in the future. Timing of interviews is anticipated to be approximately 1 hour each. One or two individuals from each business or organization will be interviewed. At the completion of each interview, Nunami Stantec will develop summary notes that outline the methods and results of the interview. Businesses and organizations in Yellowknife will be identified and contacted by email or telephone for participation in the research. Initially, participants will be engaged to begin familiarization with the Project and to discuss and coordinate subsequent research activities. Research will be primarily conducted virtually by Teams or phone. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from: April 17 - December 31, 2025
