Objective(s): To map the regional structural geometry surrounding the Howard's Pass district to examine the effects of reactivated basement structures and Cordilleran deformation on Zn-Pb ore bodies.

Project Description: This licence has been issued for the scientific research application No. 5589. This project aims to map the regional structural geometry surrounding the Howard's Pass district to examine the effects of reactivated basement structures and Cordilleran deformation on Zn-Pb ore bodies. The project research is primarily field based involving detailed geologic mapping on foot. Small samples will be collected with a geologic rock hammer for analysis at University of British Columbia. The research team plan to have 1-2 fly camps with planned supplies for 10-15 days at each within the designated areas. The team will walk between camps with our camping supplies. Project results will be presented at various conferences and written up as research papers throughout this PhD study. These include Association of Mineral Exploration (AME) Round Up and Yellowknife Geoscience Forum which the principal investigator previously presented at last year. Plain language summaries of the proposal will be communicated to nearby communities and band councils upon completion of the research. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from July 1, 2023 to August 22, 2023.
