Project Description: This licence has been issued for the scientific research application No.5525. The objective of this work is to update and increase the understanding of the geological history of this area of the north-central Slave craton, Northwest Territories. This work will be conducted mostly on foot with access along the water provided by canoe and zodiac boat. The research team will be walking the land to make updated geological maps. Notes will include observations of the types of rocks, maximum temperature and pressure they experienced, styles of alteration, and deformation etc. Hand-sized samples of rock will be collected to study the rock chemical properties and age of formation. Samples will be sent away to laboratories or stored in a warehouse in Yellowknife. All of the maps and reports generated from this program will be available for free on the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office website. There will be scientific presentations given at conference (e.g., Yellowknife Geoscience Forum). Presentations and copies of maps and reports can be made for the community upon request. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from June 15, 2023 to July 21, 2023.
