Objective(s): To research the history of Earth-surface environments between 1 billion and 700 million years ago.

Project Description: The objective of this research is to addresses the history of Earth-surface environments between 1 billion and 700 million years ago. The objective for 2019 is to complete a sample suite used by a Master of Science student. Each base-camp of 2 people will be deployed by helicopter, and after that, all work will be done on foot, with no motorised equipment. Working on mountainside exposures, the research team will document rock characteristics and collect fist-sized samples using a rock hammer for later geochemical analysis. Copies of publications, published in ensuing years in standard scientific journals, will be archived with Aurora Research Institute. The team will make our findings accessible in everyday language as illustrated poster(s) that can be used in outreach activities. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from June 20, 2019 to August 24, 2019.
