Objective(s): To create a plan for improved employee workplace satisfaction and improved employee retention.

Project Description: The objective of this research is to create a plan for improved employee workplace satisfaction, and for improved employee retention. The research methodology will consist of a descriptive quantitative study involving primary research using a survey that the Principal Investigator (PI) has created. The descriptive quantitative approach was selected because the subjects will only be measured once, the intention is to establish associations between variables and the overarching aim of a quantitative research is to classify features, count them, and construct statistical models in an attempt to explain what is observed. A survey was selected as it can be used for statistically measuring the perceptions and attitudes of a large group of people. The survey is designed to identify employees’ perception on workplace satisfaction, perception of change management, and turnover intentions. Participants will be asked to complete a self-report survey questionnaire. The survey will incorporate questions that gather responses on employee attitudes and perceptions of the following issues: change management, workplace satisfaction, and employee engagement, turn over intentions, and resistance to change. The survey will be distributed electronically to the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority– Dehcho Region (NTHSSA-DR) employees using an online survey platform called SurveyMonkey. The total number of potential participants will be approximately 100. The survey questions will be assigned a value from one to five which as a Likert scale measures attitudes and behaviors using answer choices that range from one extreme to another. The survey data will be sorted by calculating a mean figure of the responses for each subject matter. The final average score represents overall attitude of employees’ towards a subject matter. The proposed research will help improve workplace satisfaction and employee retention for the organization that may raise the quality of health care services delivered by the employees. The results of this study in the form of a completed report will be shared with the NTHSSA – DR organization. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from June 29, 2017 to December 31, 2017.
