Objective(s): To develop recommendations aimed at closing gaps that are expected to improve employee morale, recruitment and retention, and organizational efficiency that will positively impact corporate profitability of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation.

Project Description: By developing recommendations aimed at closing gaps it is expected that there will be improvements in employee morale, recruitment and retention, and organizational efficiency that will positively impact corporate profitability. The primary research will consist of employee surveys and interviews that will seek to 1) validate the findings of the Organizational Cultural Inventory; 2) determine the pitfalls of past change initiatives; and, 3) identify unifying elements of previous successful change initiatives. Surveys will be under 25 questions long and take less than 10 minutes to complete. They will be delivered via Lime Surveys to all current Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) employee email accounts. Survey participants will be selected via an opt-in principle. The findings will remain anonymous and be retained for no more than 12 months. One-on-one interviews will be conducted with volunteers from Sr. Management, middle managers and staff who choose to participate. Interviews will be recorded with the consent of the interviewee. Interviews will be less than one-hour in duration and have under 10 questions. All contributions will remain anonymous and recordings will be retained for no more than 12 months. This research will be related to NTPC. Residents of NWT communities who are employed by NTPC will be provided an opportunity to participate in surveys and potentially one-on-one interviews aimed at shifting the organizational culture of NTPC. The findings of this research will be distributed to NTPC Sr. Management. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from August 31, 2015 to December 31, 2015.
