Objective(s): To find out what obstacles cigarette-smokers are facing when trying to quit smoking, and to determine whether or not they would use the smoking cessation device if it were available to them.

Project Description: The Principal Investigator plans to survey 200 local Inuvik residents who are trying to quit smoking, in order to: 1. find out what obstacles cigarette-smokers are facing when trying to quit smoking, and 2. determine whether or not they would use the smoking cessation device if it were available to them. Methodology Upon signing of the consent form, a research assistant will show a picture of the smoking cessation devise to participants, explain in detail exactly how the device works, and ensure that participants completely understands how the device works. Participants will then fill out the survey. Once completed, the survey will be returned back to the research assistant. This research will provide community and government information on which obstacles cigarette smokers are facing when attempting their quit smoking journey. Upon completion of survey and as soon as results are available, the Principal Investigator will contact the community organizations via email to provide them with the report containing results of the survey. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from May 9, 2015 to December 31, 2015.
