Objective(s): To use data collected in interviews and museum staff regarding community involvement in the museum, about the structure of the institution, as well as questions regarding indigenous involvement in the museum.

Project Description: The Principal Investigator (PI) will ask the staff questions regarding community involvement in the museum, about the structure of the institution, as well as questions regarding indigenous involvement in the museum. Anthropological methodology will be utilized to collect data. Visits to museums and heritage centre’s will be conducted to examine the museum model that is being used at each site, and structured interviews will be conducted with workers and directors at the heritage centre’s. Interviews will last between one and two hours each, and participants will not be expected to conduct more than one interview. Museum tours, if available, will be included as well. The PI will only interview museum staff, and initial contact with them will be via email. The PI will record and transcribe the interviews, and provide copies to participants. Local involvement will include participation in the research as an interview participant, and as a guide to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. The Principal Investigator will communicate with the staff at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre via email, and will give them a copy of the MA thesis once complete. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from September 6, 2014 to December 31, 2014.
