Objective(s): To identify positive factors that exist within collaborative partnerships between the GNWT Division of Sport, Recreation and Youth (SRY) and the NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA).
Project Description: This research project will identify positive factors that exist within collaborative partnerships between the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) Division of Sport, Recreation and Youth (SRY) and the NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA). The research methods will include interviews with no more than 6 staff within NWTRPA and SRY. Questions will be open-ended and will follow an appreciative inquiry framework. The length of the interviews will be no more than one hour. The same participants will be invited to participate in a focus group meeting to further discuss the findings from the interview process. The focus group will be one hour and thirty minutes. The data for both will be audio recorded and then transcribed. Understanding what factors contribute to effective collaborative partnerships between Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and the GNWT may assist in ensuring positive organizational relationships between the GNWT and NGOs. A report will be provided to the GNWT and NWTRPA. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from August 28, 2011 to September 30, 2011.
