Objectif(s): To verify baseline environmental information available for the highway route.

Description du projet: The objective of this project will be to verify baseline environmental information available for the highway route. The field program will focus on a flyover of the proposed highway route to verify the baseline information that is available for potential fish and wildlife habitat as well as plant communities. The environmental field program will be conducted at the same time as the archaeological program. Ground access will focus on watercourse crossings with potential fish habitat and portions of the route with limited environmental information. Notes and photographs will be taken that focus on: the presence or absence of fish habitat, type of plant communities, plant species present and suitability as wildlife habitat. No samples will be collected during the field program. AMEC will require short-term involvement of K'ahsho Got'ine residents in data collection as potential field assistants. It is expected that the District will compensate individuals directly through other project funds. A community meeting will be held in Fort Good Hope in the fall of 2011 to present the findings of the field program. The final Project Description Report will be provided to the K'ahsho Development Foundation and the GNWT. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted from July 12, 2011 to July 16, 2011.
