Project Description: The objective of this project is to determine the current environmental and physical condition of the site, in support of the development of a remedial action plan and remediation specifications for the site. On Treasure Island, the field team will use shovel and hand auger to collect limited soil and waste rock samples for lab testing. The lab testing will focus on hydrocarbons and metals. The field team will take photographs during the fieldwork. In the Spider Lake, the field team will use a small boat to collect limited water and sediment samples close to the Treasure Island. The water and sediment samples will be analyzed for metals. Assessment team will contract local wildlife monitor, topographic surveyors, and charter aircraft during the site investigation. Equipment and Supplies will be purchased or rent locally. Communication of results will be through INAC-CARD, and Public Works and Government Service Canada (PWGSC). The fieldwork for this study will be conducted between August 21 and 31, 2009, on and surrounding Treasure Island, at Spider Lake (64°29'43" N, 115°8'9" W).
