Project Description: The objective of this study is to determine a general inventory of the physical features of the proposed project site, focusing primarily on the terrain, vegetation, and proximity and access to the community. The Government of the Northwest Territories, Department of Transportation, Airports Division is looking to relocate and expand the Trout Lake Airport. As a result, it is required that a Land Use Permit application be prepared and submitted to the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board in order to meet regulatory requirements. Preparation of the application may include a site visit, primarily for an observation of the terrain, vegetation and other areas located within close proximity to the proposed project site. Dillon Consulting Limited has been hired as the consultant responsible for preparing the Land Use Permit application on behalf of the Government of the Northwest Territories, Department of Transportation. Methodology of the project will be: visual observation and written recording of findings at the proposed project site. It is planned that the site visit and study will be limited to only one (1) day. Dillon research staff will be accompanied by local personnel. Results of this study will be distributed by letter correspondence to any interested parties, including local communities and other relevant governmental and non-governmental agencies. In addition, face to face community consultation will be held in Trout Lake during the last week of July or first week of August 2009. The fieldwork for this study will be conducted between July 29 and August 07, 2009, within 10 km of the community of Trout Lake.
