Project Description: Christian creative practices are to be documented to include the influences of the geophysical, climatic and intercultural heritages located in Canada's northern regions. Audio-recorded notes will be taken during interviews with the ministers, priests, and laypeople. Photographs and schematic drawings will document the artwork, crafts, and architectural details located within the churches. This research involves the ministers, priests, and laypeople of the Christian churches located in Canada's sub-arctic and arctic regions. Influences by the Aboriginal Christian artists and the Non-Aboriginal Christian artists work within the physical Christian churches is to be documented and discussed with the church personel. Influences of the geographical physical and climatic locales on the artworks and architecture of the Christian churches present a sociological journey into the intercultural climate residing in Canada's north. The completed text will be available from the University of Ottawa upon request. A letter of completion will be sent to all participating institutions and to the Museum of Civilization. The study will be conducted at Yellowknife, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk.
