Objective(s): The Pointed Mountain Gas Plant, four associated wellsites, and some associated infrastructure are being decommissioned. The site was originally constructed in 1966 and has been shut down since September 2001. Previous environmental work and public consultation at this site have identified several key areas of concern. The proponent, BP Canada, wishes to assess these areas and facilitate final site rehabilitation and closure. The process of decommissioning includes environmental assessment (soil, ground and surface water investigation), remediation of any impact identified through the initial investigation, and reclamation of the site. Areas to be assessed will include produced water storage, fuel storage, process areas, wellsites, and waste disposal locations. In addition, surface water quality adjacent and downgradient of the sites will be evaluated.
