Objective(s): Following environmental impact assessments, the National Energy Board and the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board granted approvals to Paramount Resources Ltd. for the construction of specific infrastructure within the Significant Discovery Area. Attached to these approvals were measures and conditions including requirements for revegetation and permafrost. The current study encompasses these monitoring activities. The revegetation monitoring plan is designed to compare natural revegetation of a sloped area within the right-of-way to the revegetation on a seeded, sloped area within the right-of-way. It will provide information on the germination success of the seed mixture, identify any competition issues, and any benefits or concerns that could be attributed to the introduced vegetation cover. The permafrost monitoring plan is designed to compare physical changes in permafrost areas crossed by the right-of-way. Changes will be qualitatively described over time.
