Objective(s): The Department of Transportation (DOT), Government of the Northwest Territories is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of safe transportation infrastructure, capable of meeting user needs in the NWT. As part of the DOT's overall commitment to delivering its programs and services in a manner consistent with sound environmental principles, DOT wishes to determine if marine structures enhance and/or create habitat for aquatic organisms, with particular emphasis on fish species. Jacques Whitford Environmental has been retained to complete this study. The specific objective is to determine if recently constructed (and ongoing) marine structures (docks and breakwaters) enhance, create or adversely affect nearshore aquatic fauna, particularly fish species and their habitats.
