Objective(s): This study will examine how sustainable development is taken into account in the Mackenzie Gas Project (MGP), with a specific focus on Inuvialuit opinions concerning the Project's environmental and socio-economic impacts. The research will evaluate the potential impacts of these issues, and the possibility of using the MGP as a showcase of sustainable development in similar projects worldwide. Specific objectives are; 1) to provide information to Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk on their peoples' views on the socio-economic and environmental impacts in the ISR due to the MGP; 2) to explore how sustainable development is taken into account in the MGP; and 3) to compare Inuvialuit opinions on today's proposed development to Inuvialuit opinions in the 1970's towards pipeline development. This research will contribute to a thesis to fulfill part of the requirements of a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering.
