Objective(s): This research will investigate: A) the physical and chemical characteristics of permafrost in the Mackenzie Delta region to identify areas of ice-rich permafrost or thaw sensitive terrain. Second; B) the effect of permafrost degradation on water quality of small tundra lakes which may indicate the potential impact of climate warming; and C) the themal evolution of abandoned driling-mud sumps in order to constribute to the establsishment of sump monitoring guidelines.
