Objective(s): This project will investigate patterns of interest group activity in the Northwest Territories. Interest groups serve an important function as a communication channel between citizens and government in the policy process. The main goal of this project is to better understand the contributions of interest groups in the operation of the political system in the Northwest Territories. The objectives are: 1) to assess the capacity of interest groups to participate in the policy process in the NWT; 2) to compare interest group activity in the NWT to interest group interactions with municipal governments; and 3) to investigate the role of interest groups in social cohesion.
