Objective(s): This field work is intended to provide baseline aquatic data for six lakes (Ulu, Horseshoe, Ross, Logan, Fay and Upper Exeter) and to obtain post-baseline aquatic data on twelve lakes (Vulture, Kodiak, Leslie, Moose, Nema, Slipper, Lac de Gras, Cujo, Lac du Sauvage, Nanuq, Counts, and Grizzly) within the Ekati claimblock as part of BHP Billiton's Aquatic Effects Monitoring Program. This work will assess the effects that mining may have on the aquatic environment within these lakes. To properly assess effects, data to be collected includes water quality, sediment quality, physical limnology, phytoplankton, zooplankton, and benthos. Water quality and benthos will also be collected from several streams within the claimblock area.
