Objective(s): The field studies are required to obtain specific environmental information for the study area and will be used in the preparation of baseline and environmental impact assessment reports in support of regulatory approvals to the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board (land use permit and water licence application), as well as the National Energy Board. The study area is a 5 km wide corridor centered on the proposed gas gathering system route alignment, north of Fort Liard. Emphasis will be on ensuring that finalized project components have minimal impact on the environment. A review of existing literature and other available information will first be conducted to identify knowledge gaps. This will help to focus the field studies, which will include surveys of fish and fish habitat, hydrology, wildlife and wildlife habitat, soil and terrain, vegetation, air quality and noise, heritage resources, traditional knowledge and socio-economics.
