Objective(s): The main objective of this project is to find areas which are good candidates for hydrocarbon exploration. These surveys are used to determine the presence, distribution, and composition of hydrocarbons in specific exploration areas. The method being used involves the collection of soil samples and analysis for microbes which oxidize the hydrocarbons seeping out of the ground. This type of test is called the Microbial Oil Survey Technique or MOST. If necessary another procedure called Sorbed Soil Gas, SSG , will be used. Hydrocarbon microseepage surveys are a flexible, low-risk, low-cost technique which is used along with geological and geotechnical data collection such as seismic and aeromagnetic survey in high grading exploration leases, leads and prospects. This type of technique to find areas of hydrocarbon microseepage is has been a reliable method of finding hydrocarbons in similar environments and have been successfully carried out in similar arctic settings in the Northwest Territories and Alaska's North Slope laboratory
