Objective(s): The objectives of this research are: 1) to tell the full story of the Canadian Arctic Expedition of 1913-1918; 2) to make more available to all Canadians some of the photographs, artifacts, and specimens collected by the Expedition; 3) to show the important role the Inuvialuit and Inuit members played in the success of the Expedition; 4) to relate the experiences of Expedition members 85 years ago to the present conditions in the North; and 5) to provide new historical information on areas now preserved as parks and heritage sites. Research in the NWT will provide a northern and modern point of view of the Expedition for the online exhibit. The project will tell the full story of this first major Canadian scientific expedition to the arctic, including the considerable impact of the Expedition on the local preople.
