Objective(s): The objectives are to establish: 1) the end of the last glaciation flows on northwest Victoria Island (roughly 12,000 to 10,000 years ago), by examining the landforms left by the moving ice; 2) the changes with time in the nature of the postglacial raised sea, mainly by dating (radiocarbon method) fossil shells, driftwood and whalebones found in the raised beaches. The quantities and ages of these fossils indicate the amount of sea ice present during past summers. This study does not use material in archeological sites. The results are used in climate change studies of the Arctic, and in general geological studies
