Objective(s): The focus of this research is the study of Marine birds. The objectives of this research will be to develop a contemporary baseline inventory of marine birds that could potentially be affected by offshore drilling programs within the Beaufort Sea. In cooperation with the communities, the study will serve to identify and obtain traditional information on resources and traditional use, and assess how the proposed project could effect their use. The data are being collected to determine technical and environmental issues and meet regulatory requirements for a possible Comprehensive Study under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and a review by the Environmental Impact Review Board.
