Objective(s): The primary objective of this reseach project is to examine the development of the Dogrib Community Services Board in its attempt to integrate the governanace and programming of education, child & family services and health services. This work is important for the Board and Treaty 11 Council, as well as other Northern communities who have expressed interest in this unique organizational model. The Northern data to be collected will be in the form of interviews with people (in government, the Board and the Community) who were involved in the conception and implementation of the Board. The research will incorporate elements of action research and case study design.

Project Description: The proposed qualitative social science research project will be confined to personal, or telephone, interviews with a selected group of approximately 30 people associated with the Dogrib Community Services Board. A focused interview method will be used that will allow for a broad exploration of issues related to the development and implementation of the Dogrib Community Services Board's organizational experiment. The interviews will be recorded and themes extracted from the conversations. When necessary, follow-up inteviews or new interviews may be arranged, to explore themes emerging from the initial interviews.
