Project Description: This is a community based project with the objective of conducting an archaeological inventory of the Peel River Plateau in order to build a heritage inventory and improve the understanding of human history of the area. Within the ethno-archaeological survey oral histories will be collected from Teetl'it Gwich'in Elders. These interviews will be conducted with informed consent and will be audio-taped. The results from this study will be used to create a small exhibit that will be housed in Fort McPherson and the Parks Canada office in Inuvik. A poster will also be developed and distributed to Gwich'in communities and the general public. For more information on the archaeological survey component of this study please consult the licence issued from the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Center.
