Objective(s): Arctic regiona is important and interesting for the global weather system and global climatological point of view. For example, Arctic air masses have a strong influence on the mid-latitute weather systems. The purpose of this research project is to make clear the water and material cycles and energy budget in the Arctic region. In order to accomplish this purpose, structures of the Arctic weather system, formation processes of solid precipitation will be researched.
Project Description: Main observation will be conducted from the middle of December to the end of January at the Inuvik Research Centre. Some instruments will be operated from the beginning of November. Vertical pointing Doppler radar, precipitation measuring instruments, microwave radiometer, pyranometers and automated weather station will be set up. These data will be stored by personal computer and digital data collection system.
