Objective(s): To investigate the relationships between diet, sleep patterns, and second hand cigarette smoke in the home on upper respiratory infections and subsequent conductive hearing impairment in Inuit children.

Project Description: The researcher is interested in conducting a study on hearing loss in Inuit children. By examining the childrens' diets, sleep patterns and exposure to cigarette smoke, the researcher will examine whether these factors are related to upper respiratory infections, and whether these factors (including infections) affect hearing abilities. The researcher will visit Coppermine three times between now and April, 1994, in order to collect information for the study.
