Objective(s): To conduct an airborne Lidar bathymetry survey of the Icebreaker Channel and adjacent waters in order to identify a safe shipping corridor. The study is conducted under contract with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
Project Description: A aerial survey of Icebreaker Channel and the surrounding waters will be conducted in order to collect measurements that will be useful in determining a safe shipping zone. A bathymetry will be used to take measurements of water depth. This device is mounted to an aircraft; this aircraft then flies over the areas of interest to collect water depth information. This type of data collection has been used to map Simpson, Dolphin and Union Straits.
