Objective(s): To assess the fishery and fish habitat potential of streams located on the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula; to develop a baseline database on stream characteristics and fish habitat; to provide information for predicting impacts of oil and gas exploration on the fisheries resources in the Western Arctic.
Project Description: The researcher will visit selected locations on the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula in order to measure the physical and chemical characteristics of streams as well as to document the different types of freshwater animals found in these streams. This information will be important in assessing the fish habitats and fishery potential of the region. In addition, the information may be important in assessing possible impacts of development on fish populations.
