Objective(s): To examine the sedimentary structures, bed thicknesses and minerology of the sediments; to document and collect palynological (fossil spores, pollen and dinoflagellates) of the Christopher, Hassel Bastion Ridge Strand Fiord and Kanguk formations of Amund Ringnes and western Axel Heiberg Islands.

Project Description: The purpose of this research is to examine the fossil spores, pollen and dinoflagellates found in the sediments of Amund Ringnes and western Axel Heiberg Islands. Additional data will be collected on the rock formations and mineral content of the areas. This research provides information on the past life history of the region as well as information about the petroleum potential.
