Objective(s): To examine the nature, distribution and paleoenvironmental significance of Wisconsinan sand-filled thermal contraction cracks in the Mackenzie Delta area.

Project Description: My research is about cracks in permafrost that have been filled in with wind-blown sand. In cliffs, these filled-in crackes appear as `veins' of sand. I will record the distribution and characteristics of these veins of sand. This information may help to determine the history behind how the cracks formed and the environmental conditions of the Mackenzie Delta up to 40,000 years ago.
