Objective(s): To examine issues of how local people's expectations and opinions evolve as the new administrative unit comes into existence; to understand the evolution of regional identity in the Territory of Nunavut and to measure its impact on the sense of community in the North. This study is part of a larger research initiative which will involve the monitoring of local opinions and expectations over a number of years.
Project Description: The purpose of this research will be to gather information about how Natives identify with the local, regional and national communities which they now find themselves a part of. Information will be collected on how local people think the proposed Nunavut Territorial government will affect and serve the local community and its members. The researcher will work closely with members of Clyde River in order to ensure that information collected is accurate.
